Cadillac Repair: Loss of Power, freeway entrance, pressure gage

I have a 1990 Coupe Deville that loses power when i go uphill & around freeway entrance/ exit's.  As I go up an exit/entrance & start around the corner, I try to accelerate & suddenly the car will start to jerk & lose power & sometimes shut off. As a result now I ease up on the pedal slowley till I can cruise to the top, then when its straight I can accelerate normally.  I changed the fuel filter thinking that might be the culprit, no system warning lights come on, could it be the fuel pump?  How can i test to see what the problem is?

It's either a fuel pump, (most likely) or a restriction in the exhaust system.

You need a fuel pump pressure gage to test the fuel pump pressure and volume. You need an automotive technician to test your exhaust system.

You are NOT getting any CHECK ENGINE light on the dash ?.
