Cadillac Repair: 2001 Seville Steering, sector shaft, bearing plates

Question
20 Days logged in the service department to fix a steering issue.  When turning to the left under power at slow speed there is a "catch" or bump that is felt (nothing audible).  Power steering unit, lower sector shaft and the steering rack have all been replaced in an attempt to find the problem.  2001 SLS with only 35,000 miles.  This is still considered a warranty problem as we have been trying to fix the problem for over a year.  The problem has been there since purchase two years ago (mileage at that time was 10,000).  What could you suggest?  Thanks Ed.

Answer
Hi,Gary

I would check the ft struts upper bearing plates for binding on turns, ive seen this more with the devilles, but they use that same componants, the bearing plates have known to wear causing the upper strut mounts to bind on the upper plates, usually with the strut disassembled you'll be able to see rub marks on both the plates and the the strut.something to look into.
