Cadillac Repair: Engine swapping, 1993 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

Question
Hello,

I have question and would like your opinion.

I have just purchased a 1993 cadillac seville with the 4.9 engine.  It has approximately 120,000 miles and figure that sooner or later I will need to replace the engine.

Question:

What would I need to do and what will I need to swap in a 4.6 northstar?  ie; computers/transmissions/sensors?

Opinion:

If you was to the point of engine replacement and the vehicle was yours would you stick with the 4.9 or swap to the 4.6.

Thanks for your help,

Cory S. Fitzsimmons

Answer
Hi,Cory

You can swap the 4.6 into your 93 seville, you would need the engine harness along with the PCM,also you may be able to use the same engine cradle, also the exhaust manifold pipes should bolt to the catalytic converter,so the swap can be done.
I would try for the 4.6 swap,i love both engines and i believe the 4.9 is a strong motor, but nothing compares to having a 300+ hp northstar, only my opinion. :)
