Abs and brake light is on code is 48 which is the system has three or more sensors at fault. Brake pedal is low and hard. Brake pump is not operating wiring shows that there is a relay in the vehical but the location is a secret. I am looking for the main abs relay and the pump relay. Can you assist in the locations to these relays to check the relays?

Thanks Ed
I believe that I found the relays on the firewall about center on the 89 cadillac elderado. I have dont have power to the pump from the relay but swithching the relay does not work. The pump works by jumping the relay with a wire. I belive I have a pressure sensor out on the abs. Do you know any easy way to replace the pressure sensor. I know that I have to depressure the system. But I am not sure if its spring pressure and o-rings behind the sensor. With the pressure that this type of system is under I want to take the nessecery step for safety.

Answer
Hi,Dee

Good you found the relays, yes they are located there at the firewall, also check the ABS fuse,it powers the relay it should be located in a holder just above the ABS relay, make sure its ok,on the pressures in the Teves sys,its at about 3500 psi on full accumulator pressure, removing that switch under pressure ,well it can cause you and the car some damage, with key off, pump the brake pedal at least 40 times, this will purge the accum pressure, then you are safe to remove the switch, the switch is only fluid pressure no spring tension,so as long as you pumped the pedal and it feels hard then it is safe to remove the switch,a little info on this sys,if the fuse is ok and the relay checks good it is usually the switch that failed,i have also seen the pressure accumulator fail and cause a hard pedal, but i think your on the right track with the switch,if you need more help let me know,Thanks
