Cadillac Repair: 1983 Cadillac Deville ECM, memory reset, cadillac deville

Question
My Cadillac has been acting weird lately. When Im driving it will all of the sudden start idling very high, and then when Im pressing the breaks It tries to surge forward and then chokes out. I disconected the cruise control cable but it still does this. Some starts the engine will sound fine, and then others the engine will be sputtering with both "service now" and "service soon" lights on.
I ran the diagnostic test that you can do with the ECC panel and it came up with a code 52, ECM Memory Reset Indicator. I know the HT4100 has all sorts of things going on with it but I was wondering if you know what this is or how to fix it.

Thanks a lot
Will

Answer
Hi,Will

A few things can cause this, but im leaning towards a failing ECM{computer} ive seen alot of this and ive replaced many ECM's in the 83's for your same complaint, the ECM is located at the right side of the dash, under and near the glove box, remove it and leave connected, run the engine and tap on the case and wiggle the connectors and see if the same symptoms happen,if they do,its a failed ECM.let me know if you need more help,Thanks
