I have a 92 coupe deville. It runs fine for short distances and on cool days. When i do a lot of errands on a hot day the engine bogs down and i have to let up on the gas just to keep going. The radiator does not over heat when this happens. I drive 5 miles to work and never have a problem and now i'm leary of taking the car for long distances. thank you for your help. tony.
Answer -
Are you getting any SERVICE ENGINE (orange lights) coming on in the dash display while your driving it or just before it bogs down ?.
Hi tom, No i don't get any lights at all and If i let the car rest for a while it will drive fine. It did bog down a couple of times when the positive battery cable came loose but, once i tightened it the power came back. It has side terminals which i hate but, there tight now. Thanks Tony.

Answer
I would start out by getting the charging system tested. are the belt(s) tight ?. If you can turn the alternator pulley by hand and it slips around the belt, You need to tighten the belt.

Another possibility is an exhaust restriction. Next time it bogs down get out and look at the catalytic converter and see if it is glowing red. If it is you need to get the exhaust checked.
