Cadillac Repair: brake lights, amp fuse, emergency hazards

Question
I have a 1981 coupedeville and while driving the other day i noticed that the  two small indicator lights that you see in your rearview mirror,"which im always checking" suddenly stopped coming on when i hit the brakes. They still worked for the turn signals, so i checked and found they were opperating correctly because my brake lights were not coming on at all. The bulbs are fine as is the 20 amp fuse marked stop lights/hazard. by the way the hazard lights do not work either although i can hear the solenoid/flasher clicking. Please help, thank you

Answer
In MOST cases your problem is most likely the plastic BRAKE LIGHT (stop lamp) switch located under the dash just above the brake pedal arm. Purchase a new one so you will see what you are looking for.

QUESTION: If you turn ON the EMERGENCY/HAZARDS switch do the STOP LIGHTS on the back of the car illiminate as well as the TURN SIGNAL lights on the front of the vehicle ?.

If they DO, Replace the above said switch.
