Cadillac Repair: 1992 cadillac Deville Climate control, amp fuse, fuse block

Question
The blower fan stopped working, all other functions seem to be working. in the Auto mode you can hear the compressor come on the air diversion doors work. everything seems to work but the fan. I checked the fuses under the dash and the master fuses under the hood. I also checked the fuse and relay box under the passenger side dash. there is no voltage on either side of the blower fan fuse, a 10 amp fuseI did not know whether that voltage was supplied from the control module or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Dale, Most likely you have a power module that went bad because the blower motor needed too many amps to run. And you might need to replace both parts. Fuse 7 in the instrument panel fuse block, fuse 4 in the relay center below the glovebox and fuse 3 in the under hood fuse panel all need to work. The 10 amp fuse will only have power if the body computor is commanding the fan on or the power module is controlling the fan. So if you unplug the 2 power module connectors and find that the red wire @ terminal B has battery voltage, terminal C black wire should be a ground and terminal A purple wire goes to the blower motor as a power wire. If you use a 20A fused jumper wire between terminal B to A and the fuse blows when the blower shoud run then it is motor and module replacement time. If unsure of testing procedures then take your car to the shop because the motor and module could set you back $200 in parts alone.  Hope I have been of some help. Bill
