Cadillac Repair: replaced water pump, car wont start, car wont start, ground straps

when we tried to start the car the battery was dead. after we charged it the car still wouldnt start.  it sounds like its trying to backfire.  it said to find the a.l.d.l. connector under the dash.  any clues where it is? we cant find it

Hi Kim, If you gave the year and model of your vehicle then that would help. The aldl could be behind a flap under the dash that is located above the center hump. Or they could be under the steering column area. So if you still can't find it then let me know what year and model it is. Also recheck the connectors and ground straps that could be loose or disconnected near the waterpump. Maybe you will find one that wasn't plugged in. Bill
