Question -
I am having some surging and drivability problems.  No error codes.

I have a fuel pressure gauge, but I do not know what fuel pressure is normal for this engine.
I have the factory manuals, but as of now I cannot locate the fuel pressure specifications.

Do you know what the fuel pump pressure range, is supposed to be?

-George

Answer -
9 to 13 lbs on the 5.7L engine.

Followup Statement:
I think that you miss read my question.  This is not a carburated Chevy, it is a 1993 Cadillac Northstar 4.6 liter engine, with sequential fuel injection.

(I do have the factory manuals, but I cannot find any fuel pressure specification in them.)

Answer -
Look in the EMISSIONS section of the service manual for CODE P020 and in the diagnostic tree it tells you the fuel pressure.

Ok, one last try on this question.

I am aware of the diagnostics for electrical test, but my question was:

What is the normal fuel pressure for a 1993 Cadillac Northstar 4.6 engine?
Is it:
30 PSI ?
40 PSI ?
45 PSI ?
50 PSI ?

Is there a PSI value for idle?
What about the PSI under full throttle?

This information should be so simple to get; I can't believe how much trouble it has been trying to find it.

Thanks, George

Answer
I can't believe that you can't find it in your service manuals. It is listed in SEVERAL places throughout the manuals.

Look in the DRIVEABILITY AND EMISSIONS SECTION and on the FIRST PAGE it is listed under CONTENTS: FUEL METERING SYSTEM.

The value is right there.

What good are the books going to do you if you can't find what your looking for ?.

I don't think you have the books, Otherwise you would NOT be asking for the pressures.

If memory serves the pressures are between 41-47 lbs and should remain in these values at ALL times.
