Cadillac Repair: fuel oder in car, fuel leaks, vacuum line

Dear Sir,
I have a 1992 Cad Dev. 4.9 engine about 70,000
miles on the engine. It on occasion will have a fuel oder in the car and then after a minute
it will go away , it seems to happen on acceleration, I was thinking it could be dirty injectors or leaking injectors or is this
maby the purge canister . This car seems to pick up oders from the grund such as other cars
etc, so I also wondered if it might be my fuel filter.

I try an injector cleaner?

Injection cleaner will not resolve your problem.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a vacuum line may have been knocked loose or a wire connection came loose, Look around in the area where work was performed.


I have seen cases where people replace the gas cap with a NON-FACTORY cap that has been causing this type of problem.

Also look for obvious signs of fuel leaks under the vehicle such as fuel lines.
