Cadillac Repair: Very Strange Electrical Issues STS, cadillac seville sts, left turn signal

Question
Hi,  I have a 93 Cadillac Seville STS that is having some strange electrical issues and am looking for some help, please! At night, my interior dash lights will not work unless my foot is on the brake pedal, and even then they are very dim.  Also, when I turn the left turn signal on, the dash lights blink at the same rate as the turn signal.  I have also noticed that all of the left side body lights are out...taillight, front marker light etc.  I pulled the "left parking light" fuse in the trunk and it was blown so I replaced it.  Then everything worked ok.  I turned on the turn signal once more to check it and ALL the lights except the headlights started blinking.  I turned the car on and the fuse blew once more, so now I am back where I started from, no left lights and having to push on the barke pedal to get any interior lights at all.  Please help!!  THanks!

Answer
What you are experiencing is what is called a normal BACK FEED thru the electrical system due to the blown fuse in the fuse panel.

Check ALL the light bulbs for your LEFT parking light/turn signal as well as the LEFT cornering lamp and all of the exterior lamps as one of the bulbs is most likely shorted.

IF the fuse blows when you do NOT have the parking lights ON then the short is more likely to be within the front, rear or cornering lamp bulbs or sockets.

Once you get this LEFT TURN short fixed, everything should return to normal.

NOTE:::: What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a wire connection may have been pinched during a recent or last repair.

Look around in the area where work was performed.
