Question
Gone on trip 15 days Battery dead (suspect weak,6 years old.)on return. Charged up OK, then overnite draind to dead. Replaced Battery same problem also the Radio does not turn off with door open and ignition off. Manually turn off Radio but Clock stays on lite. Battery shows 2.5 amps draw all the time, drops to .5 amp if remove Radio fuse or Comfort fuse. Car is 1997 deville original Radio.
The freind that charged the Battery the first time said he hooked up the charger reverse polarity? with the battery Dead, might have failed diode some where.

Answer
.5 amp is NORMAL battery drain. Your problem is in the radio and or the radio amplifier if external to the radio. Do NOT see any problem of reversing polarity on battery charger as most have inetrnal protective device so as NOT to damage vehicle.
