Cadillac Repair: OVERHEATING, head gasket leak, seville sts

Question
MY '92 SEVILLE STS OVERHEATS. I HAVE PUT A NEW RADIATOR IN AND I STILL GET "COOLANT HOT" "IDLE ENGINE". I CHECKED AND THE ANTIFREEZE SITS IN THE FILLER BOTTLE.IN SOME SITUATIONS,I REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP AND COOLANT COMES OUT AND TEMPS RETURN TO NORMAL(184-207)I'M SCARED TO DRIVE A GREAT DISTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY. I DONT GET THE MILKSHAKE OIL SO DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS OF WHAT THIS CAN BE?IT'S REALLY DRIVING ME CRAZY

Answer
There are only a couple of possibilities Provided that you installed a NEW RADIATOR and did NOT get your old one cleaned and simply re-used it. oing on the basis that you actually installed a BRAND NEW radiator:

1. Incorrect cooling fan operation.
2. Incorrect ignition timing.
3. Thermostat not opening all the way.
4. Head gasket leak into the combustion chambers.

As to # 4 you should remove all the spark plugs, remove the radiator cap, remove the check valve in the bottom of your cylinder compression test hose, introduce 80 lbs of constant air pressure into each engine cylinder via the test hose and watch in the radiator for bubbles. If you see ANY bubbles as you do ALL the cylinders this would indicate a head gasket leak between the coolant chambers and the combustion chambers of the engine.
