Cadillac Repair: 89 Deville brake light, diagnostic scanner, resorvoir

Question
Hi!  I replaced front pads and rotors on a co-workers 89 Deville on Sunday.  Today at lunch her brake light came on.  I did a quick check and couldn't figure out why.  The fluid level in resorvoir is fine and there are no apparant system leaks.  I had her pump the pedal 20 /30 times and found no fluid on anything (wheels on car).  The pistons on the caliper were hard to press back in, but they don't drag when driving the car.  Everything seems fine but the light is on.  Car stops normally.  Any suggestions?  Anything weird about this car I'm missing?  Is it advanced enough to be able to use a diagnostic scanner on it?   Thanks!  Alan

Answer
Some vehicles utilize this light to also work with the emergency brake. When you see the light ON, see if the light gets BRIGHTER when you step on the emergency brake. If it DOES NOT get brighter you just may have a fauly emergency brake switch at the pedal.

ome have a SEPERATE light that says ANTI-LOCK on the dash.

There are so many possibilities that can cause this fault that it would take an hour to list them all.

Was the light ON before you worked on the brakes ?.
