Cadillac Repair: coolant system overheating, blown head gasket, engine oil cooler

Question
i changed the waterpump. i changed the thermostat.the upper radiator upper hose gets very hot. some white smoke from exhaust at start up. the car won't heat.i just had both radiator tanks replaced. I havea 1990 cadillac deville.can you help. thanks

Answer
White smoke from the exhaust is a classic sign of anti-freeze getting into the combustion chambers of the engine.

This cause of the white smoke in 90% of all cases is due to blown head gasket(s) on the engine and or a POSSIBILITY of a leak in the intake manifold gasket.

WHY did you change the water pump and the thermostat in the FIRST PLACE ?.

IF your vehicle has aENGINE OIL lines that runs thru the radiator side tanks, It is HIGHLY possible that you are getting anti-freeze into the engine oil thru the engine oil cooler chambers of the radiator.

This is EXTREMLY dangerous as anti-freeze eats engine bearings like kids eat ice cream.

Check to see if your engine oil is LOW or overfilled and or BROWNISH in color.

Also check your radiator anti-freeze for signs of engine oil and or discolorization.

This is the MAIN REASON whi I NEVER EVER replace and or repair the side tanks just because of this high probability.

ALWAYS replace the entire radiator with a BRAND NEW UNIT.

You need to get this fixed YESTERDAY or you will be putting an engine in it SHORTLY.
