Cadillac Repair: Locking Fuel Filler Door, weight oil, 350ci

The Locking Fuel Filler Door {License Plate} does not latch. The locking mechanism moves open and closed remotely and manually but does not lock. The door will still open when it is supposed to be locked. Thanks for any help. My Cadillac is a 1993 Fleetwood 350ci RWD.

Hi Jeff, 2 things to look for. First is the latch still on the door or did it break off? Second is the pin comming out all the way to engage the latch? Maybe spraying the pin with WD40 or a lite weight oil/rust penetrant and working the cable and pin back and forth from inside the trunk will get it to extend and latch.  Hope that helps. Bill
