Cadillac Repair: Glove Box for 1993 Seville STS, sears hardware store, seville sts

Question
Bill,

Thank you for response and taking the time to answer my question from your busy schedule. What kind of pick are you talking about? Are you talking like a dentist pick with a "J" like design on it?

My passenger's glove box is jammed up. I have tried sticking a long screwdriver and pry it back and push everything away from the lock. I still can't get the glove box to open. The key lock must be broken because it does absolutely nothing.  Is there another way to open it?  Can you open it from the back ?

Did GM put a cabin filter on this car back then. My 1999 Windstar has one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing back from you !!

Hi Tony, I have had some success useing a pick tool to work through where the handle goes into the glovebox when the handle breaks but if the box is locked and no key is available then the only option is to get it open anyway you can and then if its too far damaged get a used one from the junkyard and have the lock rekeyed for your key.
As for the cabin air filter they didn't use one in '93. Bill

Answer
Hi Tony, What I used was almost as big as a coat hanger but not sure if I used the straight or l bent end. Whatever got in there and was strong enough to move the broken latch. The type I used can be purchased at a Sears or Sears Hardware store and 1 end is straight with the other end a small L shaped end and is about 9" long. Bill
