Cadillac Repair: electrical, 1994 cadillac fleetwood, cadillac fleetwood

I have a 1994 cadillac fleetwood & have been told I would run into problems if I have an aftermarket radio w/cd player installed.
I was told the car's factory onboard security system would not work right. the only security I know of is the chip in the key, what are your thoughts on this.

Hi Larry, If the installer doesn't cross any wires and makes a clean installation I don't see why the security system will have a problem. What happens is they don't have access to a wiring diagram and splice the wrong wires together and that causes problems. If you have a Bose system then you might have to install differant speakers because that system uses seperate amps and might not be compatable with the system you want to install. Delco has a muti disc cd player that was installed as an option on the Caddys. You might ask the parts dept. what one it was and there might even be a connector to plug it into the trunk. Bill
