Question - Bill, Yes the seville has fire, I had a inline spark tester on it while cranking. When I cranked the motor over, i noticed fuel spraying(squirting like an injector cycling)out from in between the head and exhaust manifold on the left bank. There are no gaskets on exhaust. The service engine light does come on when key is on. As far as timing, I just made sure # 1 cyl, and distributor lined up. I will check out the dist. wiring, and put exhast manifold gaskets on. thanks jeff
I am working on a 90 seville, that has just had a used 4.5 put in it. While cranking, fuel sprays from the exhaust ports. no codes are present, and the timing seems to be right. Any thoughts? I am going into this with out much background on the car, as it is another of my "buddys" couldnt resist deals. I have a manual on the way, just tring to get a jump on things. Thanks jeff

Hi Jeff, You have me confused. What exhaust ports and how many get fuel spray? How do you know its comming from the exhaust ports? Or do you mean fuel is spraying from the <a  style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=32&k=fuel%20injectors" onmouseover="window.status='fuel injectors'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">fuel injectors</a>? So If you are getting spray from the injectors, The sevive engine lights when the key is on and the engine cranks with the timing appearing correct then is there spark? The <a  style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=32&k=wiring%20harness" onmouseover="window.status='wiring harness'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">wiring harness</a> inside the distributor could have an open in the red wire where it goes into a plastic block. Otherwise the coil and module need to be tested. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Bill

Answer
Hi Jeff, Maybe its a good thing that the sparkplugs aren't firing because with the gas flowing out the exhaust manifold there could be a fire or explosion. In that case what I would do is hook up a fuel pressure gage to the schrader valve and see what kind of pressure there is and what the pressure does after the pump shuts off/2 second relay by the ECM. Then get the fuel injectors up out of the intake and see what that one is doing and if any others aren't able to turn off the fuel flow and replace them. Then when they all hold pressure without leaking into the exhaust manifold find out why there isn't any spark or the engine won't start. Bill
