Answer
Hi Dorsey, With a car that old there could be alot of things to check but because of the rotten egg smell that means that the engine is running rich or useing too much gas. Throttle position sensor, oxygen sensor, map sensor or vacuum hose to the sensor is open, shorted fuel injectors, tune-up stuff like cap rotor plugs and wires, fuel pressure regulator all need to be checked for propper operation. The catalytic converter could also be going bad and not able to burn the unburned gas anymore and that is creating the smell. There was a bulletin that said if the gas tank had less than 2 gallons of gas and a turn was made and it lost power there was a gas tank vent by the drivers side cooling fan that may be plugged or restricted. As you can see there are alot of things to check and if you just start throwing parts at it this could become an expensive project. If you haven't done a tuneup in awhile that might be the place to start. Otherwise take the car in to your mechanic and have him give it a diagnostic and see what codes are set and what isn't right. Then you will know how to procede. Sorry I can't be more help. Bill
