Cadillac Repair: 1993 Cadillac Touring Coupe, electronic level, trouble tree

Question
Hi,
I have a electrical problem with Caddy. My battery keeps dying because dash panel lights, cooling fans, blower motor comes on after I turn the car off and get out of the car. I need to know what the experts think. Is it a short or is it the ignition key and barrel. The only error code I recive is S038 (electronic level control exhast valve short to ground/open)If it is this valve, where on the vehical can I find it? Any help will be deeply apprecated.

Answer
Hi Arthor, The key and barrel won't cause this but a faulty ignition switch could. Also having the wrong manufacturer relay for the cooling fans or blower motor will keep them on. The blower motor has a module built into the blower motor housing that could be malfunctioning and keeping the motor on. As for the dash lights I have seen bad headlamp switches do this because they short out internally. These problems need to be looked at by a good electrical tech not by a shop that says we do that. As for the SO38 there is a trouble tree that needs to be followed because it might not be a sensor but a wire or connector and as you will find out just replaceing the parts that need to be might get expensive not to mention replacing parts hoping it might fix the problem. Sorry I can't be more help. Bill
