I recently replaced the distributor cap, HEI coil and the rotor button in this car. The car runs great but now the digital instrument display flickers when the engine is running. It appears to be something in the HEI coil assembly but my shop manual doesn't cover anything of this nature.

Hi Larry, The two systems seem unrelated although bad or poor grounds can cause strange things to happen especially when a fuse pops and current is rerouted through a differant circuit. I would double check that the ground terminal was removed from the old cap and transfered to the new one. If it has and nothing else looks loose or misrouted then it may be a coincidence and you might have a problem with the power supply for the dash display or the dash is starting to go.
