Cadillac Repair: alternator goin bad...??, automatic braking system, autohelp

Question
Hello,
I'm sorry, I should have explained my self better, the friend I was talking about is not a personal friend, its someone I met in a Cadillac forum, and I'm having truoble locating him, however, Its my understanding that the reason for the replacement of the alternator is because it stopped charging alltogether, and I belive that changing it did solve that problem, as far as the dimming of the headlights, I didn't ask, but in your opinion, is the dimming of lights a bad sign, or just a sign of an older car?

Thanks
Manny

Answer
In most cases this is a NORMAL condition due to the higher intensity and amount of voltage that is required in today's vehicles to illiminate the tail lights and ABS (Automatic Braking System) and other components within the brake system.

You may just NOT have noticed it before and or it is a possibility that the alternator and or battery is getting old and tired, Just like me.

To ease your mind, Have BOTH components tested by an electrical shop oR if your mechanically inclined, Take BOTH components OFF the vehicle and hand carry them into any major auto parts store and they will test them for FREE.
