Cadillac Repair: 1992 Cadillac ElDorado fan problem, cadillac eldorado, inline fuse

Question
I need guidance regarding a 1992 Cadillac ElDorado.  It has two fans-one on each side of the radiator.  The fan between the grill and radiator has quit.  I need to know if there is a relay or something that would keep electricity from getting to it.  I found one fuse  in the engine compartment fuse box and it was alright.  Is there more than one fuse? The manual shows another fuse box in the trunk, but it has nothing to do with cooling fans.  Is there another fuse box?  Where do I start looking?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks, B Cross

Answer
Hi B Cross, Looking at the wiring diagram there are 3 relays and 2 fuses that control the fans and are located under that big black plastic cover behind the washer solvent bottle. Hers the way it works. Maxi fuse 6 provides power to terminal 1 of the relay  at all times, terminal 4 goes the the fan motor, fuse D3 has power with the key in run to terminal 2 ansd the PCM provides the ground to make the fan turn on.
So...with relay 1 removed and the ignition key on you should have battery voltage at relay terminal 1 and 2. If not check Maxi fuse 6 or D3. Then make a jumper wire with an inline fuse of 30 amps and jumper the relay terminals 1 and 4. the fan should turn on. If it does try a new relay. If not or the fuse blows then the fan motor is bad and needs to be replaced. If this doesn't make sense then it would be best to take it to the shop. Bill        P.S. Use at least a 12 gage wire for the jumper wire or it won't be able to handle the current. You can buy a wire with a 30 amp plastic fuse holder already on it at the auto parts store. Then all you need to do is crimp a spade wire terminal at each end that fits into the relay terminal. Don't just jam the wire in there or you could spread the terminal s and then the relay won't work. Repost if you need more help.
