Cadillac Repair: struts, differant levels, happy holidays

Question
I HAVE A '92 CADDY SEVILLE AND OF COURSE YOU KNOW THAT STRUTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE.I'VE HEARD ABOUT MONROE PASSIVE STRUTS FOR A SEVILLE, DO YOU THINK I COULD USE THESE ?IF SO HOW WOULD THEY EFFECT THE WAY THE CAR HANDLES ?

Answer
Hi Darryl, I don't see why you couldn't use them. The differance is they can't change ride firmness but if you aren't an agressive driver then they should be just fine. Talk to the salesperson before you buy because there might be 2 differant levels of firmness and you wouldn't want your Seville to ride like a sports car unless you are an agressive driver. What you might notice is that the car might dip more in the front when braking hard and lean more when cornering hard. Also ride quality would be differant...it might be soft or firm depending upon what model strut you choose. What we were told in a bulletin in '00 is that you change the strut that set the light along with the other side. Then disable the computor and you should be ok. The best thing about replaceing all 4 is that then you will have a matched set instead of the fronts being softer than the rears for example. Just some food for thought. Happy Holidays. Bill
