Cadillac Repair: transmission problem, transmission problem, o ring

i have a 1994 cadillac sedan de ville with 94,000miles. i changed the trans. filter and shortly after the car does not go into gear when the car is cold, after warm or shifting to 1st then drive the car shifts nicely. fluid seems to be at the proper level, filter is inserted properly, what could be the problem? thanks, george

IF the vehicle shifted properly BEFORE you changed the filter and installed NEW transmission fluid of the same type of which the manufacturer recommends, then you either did not install the transmission GASKET and or "O" ring on the filter correctly OR there could be a problem with the filter as most filters have a CHECK VALVE built into the filter to prevent the fluid from draining back down thru the filter.
