Cadillac Repair: 1987 Cadillac Gas Gauge, etc., cadillac sedan deville, gas gauge

I am having trouble getting a reading on my fuel gauge in my 1987 Cadillac Sedan Deville.  I had to do the reset (off/warmer) to get the air conditioning compressor to run and recharge and since then all the fuel gauge does is flash random symbols.  I tried to wait for it to go into diagnostics and get a code of some sort, then clear the codes, but it does nothing except turn on the sevice engine soon lights.  Thanks.

Hi Robert, It is likely that this was just a coincedence. What I would suggest is removing the fuel data panel and the climate control panel and plugging them into the other harness connector. If the fuel panel still acts up then replacement will be necessary. If the climate panel now acts up the there is a wiring problem at that connector and further testing will need to be done. Bill
