Cadillac Repair: Interior Lights, ohmeter, switch problem

Question
94 Cadi Deville
The interior lights stay on all the time. The only way I can turn them off is, remove the corresponding fuse in the trunk or remove a battery cable. Nothing has been worked on or changed prior to this problem. Help!

Answer
Hi J Leahy, Sounds like you have a switch problem that keeps the dome lights on and unfortuneately instead of being out in the open they are now inside the door on the lock assembly. You would have 2 choices to repair the problem. 1) remove all the door panels starting with the LF and unhook the switch and see if the light goes off. If it does then that switch is bad and needs to get replaced. If not on to the next door. 2) Unplug the wire connector at the module and useing an ohmeter and wireing diagram test the wires to see which switch is closed and then remove that door panel to replace the switch. This might be a job best taken to the shop but this gives you some insight to the repair procedure. Bill
