Cadillac Repair: alternater, metric sockets, universal joints

i'm trying to change the alternater but cant get it out. can you help?1997 cadillac

Hi Bob, The alternator isn't a very easy one to do and getting to the alternator requires metric sockets with universal joints and short wrenches once a breaker bar releaves the tensioner from the serpentine belt. Then there is an access plate below the radiator on the RH side held on by 4 bolts that once removed the alt. can drop through the opening. It isn't the easiest job to do on the ground but it can be done. Get a shop manual for your car and hopefully you can get it out. Hope that helps. Bill
