Cadillac Repair: 1985 cadilac cimarron, wireing diagram, cluch

Question
I have a 4 cylinder moter with a/c & the a/c won't shut off. I can push the off button & the compresser still runs. I have replaced the a/c relay & it still runs. I can pull the relay out & the compresser cluch will disengauge & the cooling fan will contiune to run & run all the time when the moter is on. please how do I fix my car?   p.s. Before the a/c stuck in the on pos. driving down the road at a constant speed say 50mph the car would lerch like the a/c was turning off & on by it self. I have a 1985 cadilac cimarron

Answer
Hi Jerry, Replaceing the relay was the obvious thing to do and since it didn't fix the problem then you will need to determine if the signal is still being sent by the climate control to the ECM to allow the a/c to remain engaged or is the ECM bad and sending a signal to the relay to close the contacts. You will need a wireing diagram and a digital volt ohmeter with at least 10 Meg ohm impedance to trouble shoot the problem. If this doesn't make any sense to you then taking it to the shop would be the best thing to do so it gets diagnosed correctly...As for the cycling it could be low on freon or the ECM finally shorted out and now it doesn't cycle. Good luck. Bill
