Cadillac Repair: 1999 Catera Electrical problem, 1999 cadillac catera, cadillac catera

Hi,
We have a 1999 Cadillac Catera and are having some electrical problems.
When we start the car up in the morning the check engine light is on.  Every thing seems to be working correctly.  Runs good.  After a little while of driving the speedometer quits working and the ABS and Traction Control light comes on. When this happens it is also hard to steer.  The codes that come up are
U2108 - CAN Bus Error ABS
U2108 - Lost Comm with ABS Control System
DTC P1700 Transmission Control Module

If we let it set for awhile when we start it up again the lights are off but come on again after driving for awhile.
Any suggestions are appreciated

Hi Jeff, What I would do is clear the codes and drive the car until the light turns on again and see what code reappears and start the diagnosis with that code. Since several circuits are effected at the same time you may have a ground wire that is loose or a power wire that is backing out of a connector. If more than 1 code comes back then pick 1 and start with the checks with that troubletree and then run the other tree and see if they lead to the same conclusion. Maybe you had something worked on reciently and rechecking that area might lead to a fix of your problems. Hope that helps. Bill
