Cadillac Repair: fuel filter, cadillac sedan deville, throttlebody

here recently i have had a distributer modulator  in my car has been running fine since.  this morning i started my car it remained running for about 10 seconds the cut i then noticed that my gas tank was empty so i put about 4 gallons of gas in but my car still want start it sounds like it wants to turn over but i won't.  it's make the same sound that occurred when the modulator went out what could it be.  1993 cadillac sedan deville good shape maintenence kept real good.

Hi Clarence, You need to determine if it is a spark or fuel problem. If by spraying a 5 second blast of carb spray down the throttlebody and then cranking the engine and it starts then it is a fuel problem and causes for no fuel need to be checked. If it still cranks then you will need to check for spark. If no spark then it could be a bad distributor module but I have seen alot of wireing harnesses inside the distributor go open on the battery wire. Replacing both halfs of the harness might get you going again. This is the type of problem that might be best looked at a shop because if you don't have the propper test equipment then changing parts could get expensive before you change the right part. Bill
