Cadillac Repair: 1994 Cadillac DeVille ignition security lock, theft deterrent system, cadillac deville

My ignition is locked off. Key turns to start position, shift can be moved to Nutral, but display reads, "monitoring systems" then "ingnition is locked due to theft deterrent system" then "remove key" then "wait 3 minutes". After 3 min. when key is inserted, it just recycles to "monitoring systems". All other electric systems function. The Key fob security button also fails to function, except to occusionally turn on the dome light.
This happened earlier in the day, but started after 15 minutes, not 3 min.
I am currently in my local library so I will get the email in the morning. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Hi Jim, Sounds like you have an ignition key that needs to be cleaned or one of the 2 little wires comming from the ignition lock cylinder has broken in half. Try the other key you have and that might get you home. Otherwise you will need to get eithor a new lock cylinder and keys installed or cut the wires at the base of the steering column and wire in a resistor that is near the same resistance as the key pellet.
