Cadillac Repair: information display, dual position, information display

Question
Bill-I have a '94 caddy concours.  The information display reads "service ride control".  What does this mean?  I was'nt aware there was a ride control.  Can the light be de-activated?  What to do?  Thank you!--John Berigan

Answer
Hi John, The concours has 2 systems that make up the ride control and those are the dual position valve struts and the height sensors. There are trouble codes that need to be read and the problem isolated but what it ususally turns out to be is a strut looses its ability to change from soft to firm ride and that turns on the light. What Cadillac did because of the high cost of strut replacement, $550 per strut or more, is offer a kit that replaces the bad strut and its other side with standard struts and unplug the computor to disable the light from turning on again. Get the codes read first at the Caddy dealer and then you can decide your course of action. Bill
