Cadillac Repair: Installing speakers, cadillac dealer, flat blade

Question
I need to replace the speakers located in the doors of a '94 Seville STS. My question is: How do you go about doing this WITHOUT messing up the door? Do the speaker covers pop off....do you need any special tools?

Answer
Hi Jason, Sorry it took so long to get back to you but I am getting over a bad cold. The door panel has to be removed to get to the speaker. What you do is remove the lock switch panel by carefully placing a small flat blade screwdriver under the upper RH or LH corner and pry out. Then to remove the window switch panel install a medium sized flatblade screwdriver at the rear edge under the panel to push on a spring clip and lift up at the same time. Remove the wire connectors from both switches. Remove the screw that you see in the lock switch plate area. Then use your flatblade screwdriver between the door panel and the carpet cardboard at the RH lower corner raise up that corner and remove the screw there. Then the panel should be able to lift straight up as L shaped hooks hold the panel in place. If you should happen to break a hook the Cadillac dealer has a kit that can bond new hooks in place instead of replacing the whole panel. Then the speaker can be removed. Hope the makes sence. Bill
