Cadillac Repair: Gear Indicator, gear indicator, digital dash

My gear indicator is off by one slot.  When I'm in Drive, the indicator shows (N).  How can I re-adust the flourescent orange indicator on my 89 Seville.   Thank You.

Hi Bob, Do you mean you have a digital dash and it shows N when in drive? Or do you have a mechanical needle in the dash or in the console and it doesn't line up? Did you mean Deville or Seville? I am alittle confused. Bill

It's a mechanical needle and its an 89 Sedan DeVille.  Thanks again.

Hi Bob, That makes things alot easier. What you need to do is remove the black panel under the dash and the smaller panel directly under the steering column. There are 2 screws underneith the small plastic piece that touches the bottom of the steering column that need to be removed first before the smaller panel can be removed. Use a small flatblade screwdriver to pry it off. Then after all the panels are removed you should see a double string on the RH side of the steering column that goes to a clip. Push the clip off and reposition it so it is where it needs to be and then reassemble the dash. Hope that helps. Bill
