Cadillac Repair: 1990 Cadillac DeVille, cadillac deville, mouse nest

Question
Could you tell me what an A.I.R. filter is for this model? It is mentioned in the owner's manual, but doesn't provide any usefull information. Is it related to the heating system?(We are experiencing a low amount of air flow despite engaging the fans highest speed!?)
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Georges, You are referring to the Air Injection Reaction System and it is basically an air pump that pumps air into the engine to help with the emissions. It has nothing to do with the air comming from the dash. And as far as I know the Eldo and Seville have the filter but yours doesn't. What you need to do is remove the blower motor and the powermodule from on top of the blower motor housing and eithor clean out a mouse nest or clean the debris from the evaporator core. It is a heater core sized thing that looks like a radiator and allows cold air from the freon into the car. You can wash it off with your garden hose or if you have an air compressor  blowing it off would be less messy. Then you should have good airflow back through the vents again. Hope that helps. Bill
