Cadillac Repair: Soft Brakes, possability, brake shoes

Question
The brakes on my vehicle seem very soft. The pedal goes almost to the floor when I brake. The car stops just fine and there are no squeels or other noises. I'm not real mechanically inclined but is there something I could look at or check to solve this problem before I take it into a garage? Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Mike, Soft brakes usually means that there is a leak somewhere in the system. Or the master cylinder could be leaking internally. One other possability is that the rear brake shoes need to be adjusted out closer to the drums. The only thing thats easy to check is fluid level in the master cylinder and add some if it is low. Other than that you will need to take it in and have it checked out. Bill
