Cadillac Repair: electical, wireing diagram, rateing

My 1992 all of a sudden ; when you have wipers on and put in gear and door locks set it blows the fuse for wipers and they wont work. Please help Mike

Hi Mike, If you like mysteries and treasure hunts then you won't be disappointed. These types of problems are kinda tough to track down because the short could be a wire that has rubbed through or a componant that is drawing too many amps or is shorted out. What you need to do is get a wireing diagram and start unplugging things in the circuit until the fuse doesn't blow anymore. To save on fuses and for test purposes only I use a circuit breaker of the same amp rateing and install it in place of the fuse. What you might find is a wire rubbed through inside the steering column. Of course if you had a short finder tool that would make things easier but they range from $50 to over $350 depending  on brand. Good luck. Bill
