Cadillac Repair: 1990 cadillac deville 4.5, electric fuel pumps, throttle position sensor

Question
after 15 min of driving when you acclerate the engine starts to sputter really bad and then after another 5 min when you push the gas pedal a litle it seems like it dies but it doesent it just sputters really bad then you cant acclerate over 15-20 mph, when you come to a stop sing or pull over it dies but then will start right back up and idle rough for about a min then u can get it back up to 15-20mph and it does the same thing but if you let it cool off for an hour or 2 it is okay for a little while. i have replaced the fuel filter,pcv,air filter, cleaned the throttle body with sea foam. the hoter the day the quicker it starts to sputter. it may seem to misfire also when hot.

Answer
Electric fuel pumps within the fuel tanks tend to start to fail around 80,000 miles due to the high speed operation of the pump. This is a VERY common problem.

The OTHER most probable cause would be the TPS sensor (Throttle Position Sensor). In most cases the CHECK ENGINE light will NOT illuminate unless the TPS totally fails. As long as the vehicles computer sees ANY voltage readings back to the computer it will NOT turn on the CHECK ENGINE light.

This is also very common.

let me know.
