Cadillac Repair: Electric Fan Motor, electrical plug, electric fan

Question
I have a 1986 DeVille that has an electric fan motor.  It's on all the time and it obviously uses a great deal of energy.  Should this run constantly?  It walso has a very distinct electric sound that I don't hear in other Cadillacs...

Please let me know what you think.

Answer
Typical POWER MODULE failure, Very common problem.

Right near the blower motor you will see a 6 or 7 wire electrical plug that plugs downward into the top of the black plastic heater core/accumulator housing. There is also a large BLACK wire that is MOLDED into this module.

Thyere are 3 or 4 small 7mm screws that hold the POWER MODULE and removing them you can LIFT OUT upward the POWER MODULE.

This module costs about $125.00.
