Chevrolet Repair: 2004 impala keeps dying, alternator, impala

I have a 2004 impala and went to start it and all the lights work but it wont turn over. I jumped it and it stayed running fine, ran to store and back and shut it off and it wouldn't start back up again without getting jumped. Is it the battery or the alternator?

HI HEATHER,,WELL I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IT IS THE BATTERY, BECAUSE IF IT WERE THE ALTERNATOR THE CAR WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING..IT WOULD ONLY RUN LONG ENOUGH UNTIL IT SUCKED ALL THE POWER FROM THE BATTERY AND THEN DIE..TIME FOR A NEW BATTERY..HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM...
