Chevrolet Repair: 95 gmc pickup,, shift linkage, gmc pickup

Question
While plowing a driveway in 4 high, i got the truckstuck. I put the truck in park and went to switch from 4high to 4 low, the shifter was hard to move. It went in the direction it was supposed to, but it did not engage 4low. I tried to put it back in 4high, and the 4 x4 shifter was limp. Now i have no 4 wheel drive but the truck still drives in 2 wheel drive fine. No noises, the 4 x 4 light diagram stopped working at the same time. Did i blow up the transfer case?  i looked at the linkage from the shifter to the transfer case and it seems to be intact.

Answer
GOOD MORN AIMEE, WELL SINCE YOU SAID THAT YOU LOOKED AT THE SHIFT LINKAGE GOING TO THE TRANSFER CASE AND IT LOOKS OK THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE SHIFT COLLAR INSIDE THE TRANSFERCASE BROKE NOT ALLOWING IT TO SHIFT ANYMORE. BUT BEFORE WE ASSUME THIS YOU WILL NEED TO GET UNDER THIS TRUCK AND HAVE SOMEONE SHIFT THIS LEVER WHILE YOU WATCH THE SHIFT ROD TO MAKE SURE IT IS ON THE SHIFT ROD ACTUATOR GOOD AND TIGHT..SOMETIMES THESE JAM NUT LOOSEN JUST ENOUGH TO NOT ENGAGE ON THE SHIFT ROD GOING TO THE INSIDE. LETS HOPE THIS IS THE PROBLEM. IF NOT YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE CASE AND HAVE IT OPENED UP TO INSPECT IT..GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM..
