Chevrolet Repair: Chevrolet S-10 blue smoke, chevrolet s 10 pickup, diesel 4x4

Question
I have a Chevrolet S-10 pickup, diesel, 4x4, 2.5TD.  The car was overhauled in 2010 (new pistons, rings, seals, etc).  In December 2012, my nephew was driving the car when it lost power and started giving off blue smoke from the exhaust.  What can be the problem?

Answer
HI JANET,WELL IF IT WERE BLACK SMOKE THIS WOULD BE A RICH CONDITION FROM TO MUCH FUEL..BEING IT IS BLUE THE ONLY FAULT OF THIS IS BURNING OIL..IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME PISTON RINGS BROKE OR BAD VALVES. I KNOW YOU SAID THAT IT WAS JUST REBUILD BUT I THINK SOMETHING MIGHT OF WNT WRONG A LONG THE WAY...I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING THE TRUCK BACK TO WHO DID THIS WORK AND HAVE THEM CK IT OVER..GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM...
