Chevrolet Repair: 2005 Chevy Express Grease Fittings, lower ball joints, inner tie rod

Question
I purchased a used 2005 Chevy Express 1500 Conversion Van, it is rear wheel drive and equipped with the a 5.3L V8.

I changed the oil and I found grease fittings for the upper and lower ball joints and a grease fitting on one outer tie rod.  I looked for grease fittings on the driveshaft and u-joints but did not find any.  Can you tell me if I overlooked any other grease fittings?

Thanks,
Charles

Answer
HI CHARLIES,,THERE ARE NO GREASE FITTINGS ON THE DRIVE SHAFT UNLESS SOMEONE HAS REPLACED THE U-JOINTS. THIS IS FACTORY STOCK LIKE THIS...THERE SHOULD BE 2 INNER TIE ROD END GREASE FITTINGS, YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR THEM BUT THEY ARE THERE,BY THE INNER TIE ROD BOOTS,THEY ARE SMALL BOOTS TO HOLD THE GREASE. NOW FOR THE FUN PART, AROUND THIS YEAR OR AFTER THEY CHANGED THE STEERING TO RACK AND PINION. SO, IF THIS HAS A RACK AND PINION, THERE ARE NO MORE FITTINGS. HOWEVER IF YOU HAVE A STEERING GEAR BOX THERE ARE 2 FITTINGS ON THE IDLER ARM AND 1 ON THE PITMAN ARM..I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,,TOM..
