Chevrolet Repair: Dinger in 2006 Malibu, latch assembly, warning bell

Question
My 2006 Malibu has a faulty trunk latch sensor.  Sometimes the "trunk ajar" message will ding incessantly.  I imagine a permanent solution would be to fix the latch, but is there a way to just disconnect the dinger?  I wouldn't care about the "trunk ajar" message if it weren't for that awful dinging.  I need to make a 1500 miles trip soon with the trunk loaded.

Answer
HI TONY,,OPEN THE TRUNK AND FIND THE WIRE GOING TO THE SWITCH IN THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. REMOVE THE WIRE CONNECTOR TO THE SWITCH. HERES THE TRICKY PART. SOMETIMES JUST REMOVING THIS PLUG WILL STOP THE NOISE...IF THAT DOES NOT WORK TRY GROUNDING THE WIRE .THIS SHOULD WORK..MY QUESTION IS. IS THE TRUNK CLOSING ALL THE WAY ??? IF NOT JUST LOOSEN THE STRIKER IN THE TRUNK AND MOVE IT DOWN SO THE TRUNK LID CLOSES TIGHTER ON THE LATCH. THIS MAY ALSO TAKE CARE OF THE WARNING BELL.. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,,, TOM..
