Chevrolet Repair: Service Air Bag, chevy hhr, gm software

The 'Service Air Bag' in my 2009 Chevy HHR 1LT goes on and off frequently,  I've taken it in for repair, but each time the light has gone off before I got it in, and they've said to bring it back when the light is on.  I've read a little online and don't have anything plugged in to the 12V outlets now, but it still comes on.  

At least twice, it was off and I hit a bump and the light came on.  Sometimes it goes off if I press 'Info' on the steering wheel a couple of times.  Any advice on how I can get this thing fixed?

HI KEVIN,LET ME SEE IF I CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS..FIRST OFF IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP THAT HAS SOFTWARE FOR GM CARS [NOT GENERIC SOFTWARE] MOST SHOPS HAVE SCAN TOOLS THAT WILL CK PCM FAULT CODES, BUT SOME SHOPS DO NOT HAVE SOFTWARE FOR AIR BAG AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND SO ON.. SO CK WITH YOUR SHOP TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE A SCAN TOOL THAT HAS GM SOFTWARE OR A GM TECH SCAN TOOL..THIS WAY THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TOP PULL A LIVE CODE FROM THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TO LEAD THEM OR YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO FIND THE PROBLEM..THERE IS A 99.9% CHANCE THERE IS A CODE IN YOUR SYSTEM SINCE THAT LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF. TURNING THE CAR OFF SHOULD NOT MATTER..I WILL TAKE A GUESS AS TO WHAT IT MIGHT BE,,SEAT BELT SENSOR OR CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL..I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ..
