Chevrolet Repair: 2000 s-10 ac, serial data line, fuse panel

QUESTION: Tom the clutch is not engaging. i have  checked the pressure switch on accumulator & have continuity
plug has 12 v both + & -, i jumped across plug & clutch did nothing. i checked the relay in fuse panel. relay is good when energized. good continuity when contracts are closed. i checked voltage in annals. I'm missing  negative voltage on terminal #56,therefor relay won't energized.

ANSWER: HI CHARLES, IF IAM UNDERSTANDING YOU CORRECTLY, YOU JUMPED THE AC COMPRESSOR ,AS YOU SAID,[JUMPED PLUG AND COMPRESSOR]..BY JUMPING THE COMPRESSOR IT SHOULD LOCK IN. DID YOU PUT 12 VOLTS TO THE PLUG OR IS THERE 12 VOLTS TO THE CLUTCH COIL ??? IF THERE IS 12 VOLTS AND GROUND ON THE WIRE GOING TO THE COMP ITSELF IT SHOULD LOCK UP. IF NOT THE CLUTCH COIL IS BAD..IT IS PROBABLY ME NOT UNDERSTANDING YOUR QUESTION. WHEN YOU TURN THE YOUR SWITCH ON YOUR DASH THIS SENDS A SIGNAL TO THE PCM OVER THE SERIAL DATA LINE TO GROUND THE RELAY AND ENERGIZE THE CLUTCH. SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT EVEN IF YOU JUMP OR GROUND THE RELAY THE COMP DOES NOT ENGAGE.. YOU SAY RELAY IS GOOD WHEN ENERGIZED,DOES COMP TURN ON THIS WAY ??? GET BACK TO ME WITH THE QUESTIONS I HAVE ASKED,,,,LIKE I SAY IT IS PROBABLY ME..THIS WILL GO TO MY CELL PHONE SO I SHOULD GET IT FAST..THANK YOU,, TOM...

HI CHARLES,THEN WE ARE LOOKING AT SWITCH, WIRING PROBLEMS,OR ECM FAILURE. I WOULD SUSPECT WIRING PROBLEMS. HAVE NOT SEEN MANY ECM FAILURES WITH THIS.. REMEMBER THE ECM SENDS SIGNAL TO GROUND THE RELAY...[SEE FIRST ANSWER.] LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED MORE INFO..TOM.
