Question
QUESTION: On my dads 2006 chevy ssr it keeps dying. It comes up with a loss of power light. The other day I drove it it went from 400hp to 350 hp. When I go in to look at the codes their is alot. I also shot ether in the throttle body and it fired like ether is suppose to. It started and in seconds it died. When I go in and clear out the codes it erases all of them then I start it and it comes up with 2 error codes. When I erase them with the engine running it automatically kills the engine. Also it came up with check gages warning light. Looked at the gauges everything was good and I erased the codes with the engine running and it went away. Thanks.

ANSWER: HI SEAN, I WISH YOU WOULD OF TOLD ME WHAT THE CODES WERE AFTER YOU CLEARED THE FIRST BUNCH. THIS MAY OF HELPED ME. BUT SINCE YOU DID NOT THIS IS ONLY A GUESS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD OR THE RELAY TO THE PUMP IS NOT TURNING ON. CAN YOU CK FOR POWER AT THE FUEL PUMP HARNESS BY THE TANK,IF SO CK WHILE THE ENG IS CRANKING OVER,SHOULD HAVE BATTERY VOLTAGE HERE.IF SO AND NO FUEL  TO THE ENG,THE PUMP IS BAD. IF THERE IS NO POWER TO THE PUMP CK THE RELAY AT THE FUSE BOX,TO CK THE RELAY ,SWITCH WITH ANOTHER RELAY IN THE FUSE BOX TO SEE IF IT IS OK,THE FUSE BOX COVER WILL BE LABELED. IF STILL NO GO THE PCM MAYBE THE PROBLEM..GET BACK TO ME WITH THE CODES IF POSS..THE CK GAUGE WARNING LIGHT COULD OF CAME ON BECASUE OF LOW OIL PRESSURE BECAUSE YOU WERE CRANKING THE ENGINE FOR A WHILE,WHICH WOULD RESULT IN LOW OIL PRESSURE..GET BACK TO ME IF YOU CAN,HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. TOM..

QUESTION: Here are the codes I pulled the first time p0443 p0689 p1682 p2101 p2176 c0700 co300 p0102 p0113 and like 3 or 5 n/a. Also checked the fuel pressure it is at 60 when running. Ok when I started it today it started quick and the oil gauge inside was at 40 and the gas gauge is fine to. If I take the truck out for a long time it loses horsepower and dies. I also sprayed ether in the throttle body and it fired for a second like ether is suppose to. To me it is either the throttle body or one of the computers what do you think. Hope this all helps you. Also the truck has 100,200 miles.

Answer
HI SEAN,WHEN THIS DIES HAVE YOU CHECKED FUEL PRESSURE ??? IF YOU HAVE NOT, DO SO..I HAVE SEEN MANY PUMPS RUN WHEN COLD AND AFTER THEY HEAT UP THEY STOP...IF NO PRESSURE,MAKE SURE THERE IS POWER AT THE PUMP PLUG HARNESS ALONG THE FRAME RAIL. I THINK A GREY WIRE ,SHOULD HAVE BATTERY VOLTAGE HERE WHEN CRANKING..IF POWER IS THERE THEN THE PUMP IS BAD. IF NOT CK WIRING,RELAY AND YOU MAYBE CORRECT ON THINKING A PCM FAILURE. CAN YOUR SCAN TOOL GIVE YOU LIVE DATA OR IS IT JUST A READ OUT TOOL. IF YOU HAVE DATA, AND THIS WILL NOT START AND YOU HAVE RULED OUT THE FUEL PUMP CK FOR CRANK SIGNAL WHEN CRANKINHG OVER WITH YOUR SCAN TOOL. SEE IF THERE IS ANY READ OUT'IF NOT YOU HAVE PCM FAILURE OR WIRING PROBLEMS. IF PCM FAILURE YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT FLASHED AT THE DEALER TO RELEARN..I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,LET ME KNOW HOW THINGS GO,, TOM..
